The Narrow Escape. (Chapter 29)

Another Sunday rolled around as Mac, since being out of the hospital
was "back in the saddle again"  as greeter and head of the church 's
welcome and outreach ministry.
Mac pulled in to the church parking lot in his old Ford pickup and got
out to unlock the church doors and set up the coffee and tea area in the
fellowship room.  No sooner had he entered the tea room than Wilfred
Templar and Jenny Garrett arrived.  Mac came out of the tea room to
greet Wilfred and Jenny as they entered.
"Good morning, young Mac," Wilfred was the first to speak,  'It's
so good to have you back.  Everyone missed seeing your face at the
door."
"It's great to be back, Wilfred," Mac replied happily,  And I want to
thank both you and Jenny for a job well done while I was away."
"It was a pleasure, Mr. Davenport,"  Jenny added, "It was great
meeting Karen and her mother!"
"Gary told me about it while I was still in the hospital."  Mac said,
"and I want to say great job. He said Karen and her mother had
nothing but nice things to say about you, Wilfred and the church
overall."
"It's how the good Lord would have us do it,"  Wilfred stated.
"Yes it is,"  Mac said, "and I gave Him thanks for that as well."
"We've been praying for you all the while you were out," Jenny
said,  "It just didn't seem the same without you."
"Aw thanks, Jenny,"  Mac blushed a little in spite of himself.
  "You're welcome, Mr. Davenport."
"And Jenny?  From now on, please call me Mac.  We've
been friends as well as siblings-in-Christ for some time now,
okay?"
"Okay, Mac."  Jenny then added, "Shall I get the bulletins
 ready?"
"Make it so,"  Mac acknowledged, "I'll help you fold them."
"And I'll put in the inserts,"  Wilfred put in.
Mac clapped his hands together enthusiastically and barked
out joyfully, All right then!  The team is back in action!"
"Halleluiah!" Jenny shouted joyfully as she clapped her hands
together over her head.
"Oh, most certainly!"  Wilfred also added joyfully in the manners
of the English gentleman that he was.
The three of them, Mac, Jenny, and Wilfred got together and
worked on the church bulletins, each doing their thing like a
well-oiled machine. Jenny running the copier, Mac folding and
Wilfred putting in the inserts.
While in the process, Mac made an announcement while he
continued folding the bulletins, "I meant to tell you, Richard
Williams is coming to our church for the first time, so let's be
ready to welcome him the same way the two of you with
Karen and her mother, okay?"
"We sure will, Mac!" Jenny acknowledged happily.
"We most certainly will, Mac," Wilfred answered in like
manner.
"Praise God," Mac smiled as he continued with the bulletins.

The Canfields' Toyota Camry pulled in to the church lot
and over to its usual place next to the church bus so that
Gary and Vera could begin their duties of the bus ministry.
As was the usual routine, Brian and Dawn headed to the
entrance of the church together as their mom and dad
started up the van and headed out to pick up folks.
The children noticed the three other vehicles in the lot
with one of them Mac Davenport's red pickup truck.
 "Uncle Mac's back," Brian stated.
"Yes," Dawn answered. "He said he would be back
when he was with us at the fellowship hall when we
we're putting the pinecar track together."
"Let's go see if he needs us for anything," said Brian.
Brian and Dawn quickly made their way to the front
entrance of the church and when they got inside they
heard the copier going in the church office.
As the kids headed toward the office, Mac stepped
out to greet them and then made the same announcement
to them that he made to Wilfred and Jenny.
"Kids?" Mac addressed both Brian and Dawn,  "Mr.
Williams is going to be coming to our church for the first
time, so I'd like for the two of you to treat him the same
way you did to Karen and her mom, okay?"
"We will," Brian and Dawn answered enthusiastically.
 "Great!"

This concludes Chapter 29.
